House Springs man accused of threatening woman at her home

Justin Emerson

Justin Michael Emerson, 42, of House Springs has been charged for allegedly violating a protection order by going to a woman’s home and threatening her. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported hearing Emerson tell the woman that he had a gun, according to court documents.

Emerson has been charged with felony first-degree burglary, first-degree harassment and tampering or attempting to tamper with a victim in a felony prosecution as well as misdemeanor violation of a protection order, court records show.

He was arrested on March 3, and as of March 4, he was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents said.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Emerson entered the woman’s home on Feb. 27 and began to yell at the woman. Emerson was violating a protection order that does not allow him to be near the woman.

The woman told deputies when she called 911, she and Emerson fought over the phone. She also said Emerson blocked the front door to keep her from leaving, the report said.

Deputies reported hearing Emerson tell the woman that she was not allowed to leave and that he had a gun. Emerson allegedly threatened to kill the woman, according to the report.

Emerson was arrested in the home, and no injuries were reported.

Emerson allegedly told deputies he had “dope” as he was being driven to the Jefferson County Jail. A deputy reported finding a crystal-like substance in one of Emerson’s socks, the report said.

Emerson has been charged as a persistent offender because he has been found guilty of at least two prior felony charges, court records show.

Emerson was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance in March 2016 in St. Louis County, and he was found guilty of stealing rented personal property in August 2015 in Jefferson County, court documents said.
