UL Frances Clements of Pevely just celebrated his 95th birthday. “He’s one of the last World War II vets,” said his daughter, Tracy Thomasson, who submitted this photo of her dad.

He was born in 1926 and enlisted in the Army at age 18.

“His rank was Private First Class, and his job was driving the Colonel around,” Tracy said. “He was stationed in Japan after the (atom) bomb was dropped.”

Back in the states, he went to work for Browning Arms until his retirement.

“He couldn’t just sit around for very long, so he got a part-time job at Barnhart Flea Market,” Tracy said. “When it closed, he moved to the Pevely Flea Market.”

He and his wife, Ann, have been married nearly 75 years. They have two sons and two daughters, eight grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
