The Festus boys basketball team is in Cape Girardeau tonight to play Farmington in the Class 5 District1 semifinals. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
Seeded second, the Tigers improved to 20-7 this season after beating Poplar Bluff (7, 7-16) 62-49 on Tuesday night. The Knights (3) are also 20-7 after beating Cape Girardeau Central (6, 9-17) 68-36 on Tuesday.
Despite being nonconference opponents, Festus and Farmington have played twice this season. The Tigers beat the Knights 67-58 at the Bob Sechrest Christmas Tournament in Park Hills, and then 65-58 in Festus in January. Senior Jackson Smith was the leading scorer for the Tigers in both games, combining for 49 points.
