Paul H. Kertz, 87, of Festus died Sept. 4, 2023, in Festus. Mr. Kertz was a teacher at St. Pius X High School. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus council in Bloomsdale, a member of the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima and a former member of the Legion of Mary. He also taught in the Parish School of Religion at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City. Born Oct. 22, 1935, in Bloomsdale, he was the son of the late Johanna (Huck) and George Kertz.
He is survived by five brothers: George, Thomas, James, Daniel and Patrick Kertz; three sisters: Anna Mae Elze, Betty Braun and Joan Sutterer; as well as close friends Joann Coffee, Joyce Jennings and Rudolph Junior Witner.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Michael Boehm. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Twin City Chapel in Festus.
