William Michael "Mike" Ashby, 56, of Anderson, Ind., died Sept. 3, 2024, in Carmel, Ind. Mr. Ashby grew up with a love for St. Louis and was a graduate of Fox High School. His career in the casino industry made him well-known across Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and West Virginia. Known as "Ashby" by his colleagues, he was known as not only a mentor but a compassionate and effective leader. He also was known for his commitment to helping others and will be remembered for his generous, kind and caring spirit. Born Nov. 28, 1967, in St. Louis County, he was the son of Bobbie (Ken) Ashby of Arnold and Bill (Vicki) Ashby of Oakville.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother: Brian Ashby of Denver, Colo.; his special “cuz”: Cynthia Frost and her extended family of Enola, Ark.; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Doris and Gene Ashby and Josephine and Abb McClellan.
Mr. Ashby chose to be an organ donor and will save the lives of at least three individuals. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
