Shirley Ann Thomas, 89, of Waxahachie, Texas, formerly of De Soto, died June 21, 2024, at UTMB Clearlake Campus Hospital in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker. Born Nov. 4, 1934, in Jefferson City, she was the daughter of the late Bernice Vernon Hedger and George Johnson. She was the stepdaughter of the late John Hedger.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years: Jere Lee Thomas.
She is survived by two children: Stephanne Ploeger and Jeffrey Thomas; a son-in-law: Lennis Ploeger; three grandchildren: Alexandra Ploeger, Abbegaele Ploeger and Dane Ploeger; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. until a service at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto, officiated by Bruce Jovaag. Entombment will be in the Four Seasons Mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
