Solomon, Ginger

Alice G. “Ginger” Solomon, 84, of Hillsboro died Feb. 9, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Solomon was a member and worked as a secretary for Hope United Church of Christ in De Soto and, with her husband, Earl, also had a crafting business. She took pride in being a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed gardening, fishing and her pets. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Greers Ferry Lake, the Mary Ellen Gold Mine in Wyoming and visiting Canadian waterfalls. Born Aug. 23, 1939, in Richwoods, she was the daughter of Theodore “Ted” Henry and Alice Margaret (Murdick) Howell.

She is survived by her husband: Earl S. Solomon of Hillsboro; three children: Vicky (Jeff) Partney of Aurora, Ky., Doug Solomon of Hillsboro and Brad (Kristina) Solomon, Big Sandy, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren: Melissa (Mark) French, Christina (Joshua) Reinhart, Stephanie (Tyler) Halton, Ryan Solomon, Jenelle Duncan, Jenessa (Austin) Shearer, Jessica (Matt) Henry, Shane (Amber) Solomon, Jacob Solomon and Robert (Diamond Herrera) Solomon; 15 great-grandchildren: Ava, El, Alex, Asher, Autumn, Jayden, Payton, Landyn, Jack, Weston, Leo, Wyatt, Lilo, Jaylynn and Echo; a sibling: Ted R. (Nancy) Howell of De Soto; and many other family members and friends.

Visitation is scheduled for noon until funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Dietrich-Mothershead Chapel, 220 N. Main, in De Soto, officiated by Vicky Partney, Ted Howell and Bruce Jovaag. Private burial will take place in Horine Cemetery in Richwoods. Memorials may be made to Hope United Church of Christ or Horine Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
