Austin, Mildred

Mildred Gennette Austin, 76, of Hillsboro died Dec. 19, 2018, at Cori Manor Nursing Home in Fenton. Mrs. Austin worked as a switch adjuster with Emerson Electric. She was know for making knitted decorative clothes hangers, and she enjoyed watching gospel programs, reading her Bible, bird watching (particularly hummingbirds), watching butterflies, giving to children's charities, cross stitching and doing cryptogram puzzles. Born April 28, 1942, in Kennett, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mamie (Meyers) Trout.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years: James Harvey Austin of Hillsboro; three sons: James R. (Chris Sproull) Austin of Festus, Raymond (Kathy) Austin of Herculaneum and Jamie (Joy) Austin of De Soto; a daughter: Sondra G. Austin of Hillsboro; a brother: William Trout of Highland, Ill.; three sisters: Linda Hardin of Fairview, Tenn., Brenda Davis of Fredericktown and Carolyn Thorn of Makanda, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Wiley Trout; and three sisters: Imogene Mayberry, Mavis Wilson and Erma Lee Trout.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Dr., in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Randy Casey. Burial is in the Sandy Baptist Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to Radiant Life Church, 11533 Gamel Cemetery Road, Festus, 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
