A pedestrian died April 15 after being struck by an SUV on I-55 in Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported Monday.
The Highway Patrol no longer identifies people involved in vehicle crashes. On April 16, the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Milan J. Coleman, 31, who is listed as being homeless. The Highway Patrol delayed listing the report online because the agency wasn’t sure if a next of kin had been notified.
According to the Highway Patrol, Coleman ran in front of and was struck by a northbound 2023 Toyota Highlander that was being driven by a 36-year-old Ballwin man on I-55 at 5 p.m. April 15. Coleman was transported by Arch Air to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur where he was pronounced dead at 5:26 p.m.
The Toyota had extensive damage, and the driver was not injured, the report said.
