Gregory Kent Nickelson, 60, of De Soto died Sept. 20, 2021, in Festus. Mr. Nickelson was raised in Cadet and attended Potosi schools. He was employed at Mississippi Lime Co. in Ste. Genevieve. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, the outdoor, and his dogs. Born Nov. 20, 1960, in Iron County, he was the son of the late William and Anna Belle (Bourbon) Nickelson.
He is survived by his wife: Constance Marie “Connie” (Poliette) Nickelson of De Soto; three daughters: Suzanne Elizabeth Nickelson of De Soto, Amanda Jane (Jesse) Emmons of De Soto and Ashley Marie Nickelson of Hillsboro; a son: Gregory Kent Nickelson Jr. of Hillsboro; a grandson: Kent L:awrence Emmons of De Soto; a granddaughter: Sadie Marie Emmons of De Soto; four brothers: Mike Nickelson of Bismarck, Glen (Cheryl) Nickelson of Cadet, Randy (La Fawn) Nickelson of Cadet, Curt Nickelson of Cadet; two sisters: Patricia (Bill) Davis of Bourbon and Tammy Nickelson of Cadet; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: William and Virlin Nickelson; a sister: Joyce Haarmann; a sister-in-law: Sandy Nickelson; and a best friend: Richard Tucker.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday (Sept. 24) and again from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 25) at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro. Burial will be in St. Joachim Cemetery in Old Mines. Memorials may be made to the NRA or any animal charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home.
