Jefferson County man charged with domestic assault, harassment

William Cooksey

William Andrew Cooksey, 36, who lives in the Jefferson County portion of Pacific, allegedly hit someone he is related to and threatened his relative and another person with a knife at a Pacific-area home, according to court documents.

Cooksey has been charged with third-degree domestic assault and first-degree harassment, both class E felonies that are each punishable by up to four years in prison. As of Nov. 19, he was being held on a $30,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court records show.

A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy was called Nov. 16 to a home in the 2200 block of Lake Tekawitha Road south of Pacific. After allegedly hitting his relative, Cooksey said everyone was going to die and if the cops show up there would be a bloodbath, according to the probable-cause statement.

When the deputy arrived, Cooksey barricaded himself in a bathroom and refused to come out. He briefly came out of the bathroom at one point, but he went back inside after being told he was being arrested, the report said.

Cooksey was eventually arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail, according to the report.
