Fenton-area man accused of threatening woman, endangering children

Ryan Richardson

Ryan Scott Richardson, 30, who lives in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton, has been accused of threatening a woman with a gun earlier this year. Investigators described his home, where three children live, as being in deplorable condition, according to court documents.

On June 5, Richardson was charged with felony counts of armed criminal action and first-degree harassment and two misdemeanor counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. He was arrested on June 10, and as of June 11, he was being held on a $10,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court and jail records show.

According to a probable-cause statement filed by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Richardson and a woman were involved in an altercation at their home on Feb. 15. The woman told police that during the argument, Richardson got a gun and pointed it at her head.

The woman said she was able to get away but Richardson fired the gun approximately four times as she fled, the report said.

Richardson and the woman argued again on Feb. 19, and the woman fled to a different man’s home. Richardson allegedly called the man and threatened to come to the home to shoot them, according to the report.

Deputies went to Richardson’s home on Feb. 19.

According to court documents, a large amount of dog feces was present in every room of the home, including in the children’s bedroom and on their beds. Trash and dirty dishes were strewn throughout the home, and numerous propane tanks were in the kitchen, bedrooms and living room.

The deputy also found marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia within easy access to the children, the report said.
