A House Springs man has been accused of attacking a family member in a home the two share in the 7000 block of Tower Road, according to court documents.
William Michael Hankemeyer, 57, has been charged with felony first-degree domestic assault. He was arrested on Oct. 23, and as of Tuesday, Oct. 27, he was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court and jail records show.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement filed by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called at about 10 a.m. Oct. 23 to a home after a report of a domestic assault. Deputies found an injured woman lying on the basement floor.
The woman was transported to an area hospital, where she was treated for a skull fracture, cervical spine fracture, fractured ribs and a collapsed left lung, the report said.
Hankemeyer remained in the home when deputies arrived, and he was arrested, according to the report.
Two people told deputies they saw the alleged assault. They said Hankemeyer and the woman were arguing, and Hankemeyer punched the woman in the head. After the woman fell, Hankemeyer allegedly jumped on her twice and kicked her in the head, the report said.
The two people said they ran out of the home, and they asked a neighbor to call 911 to report the alleged assault, according to the report.
