Christopher Shane Brooks, 46, of Imperial recently had his probation revoked and was sentenced to seven years in prison.
He had previously pleaded guilty to charges for drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to court documents.
Jefferson County Div. 5 Circuit Judge Victor Melenbrink on Nov. 25 revoked Brooks’ probation and executed the sentences that Brooks had received in November 2023. He had been sentenced to seven years each for second-degree drug trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm, court records show.
The four seven-year sentences were to be served concurrently, or at the same time, but Brooks was released from prison on Jan. 8 after completing a long-term treatment program and placed on five years’ probation, court records show.
Melenbrink on Nov. 25 ordered the four seven-year sentences to be served concurrently.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Lindsay E. Whalen prosecuted the case.
According to probable-cause statements, Brooks was arrested twice in 2021 at a home in the 5800 block of Old Lemay Ferry Road in Imperial.
Brooks was first arrested on Aug. 3, 2021, after Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies found him hiding in the home. The deputies also found eight syringes that each contained a dark brown liquid substance in a room Brooks was using in the home, the case’s probable-cause statement said.
Brooks told deputies the liquid was a mixture of his blood and methamphetamine, the report said.
Deputies returned to the Imperial home on Dec. 30, 2021, after being told Brooks was selling meth there. The deputies found meth in the kitchen and living room, and they found three shotguns, two pistols, four rifles and a large amount of ammunition, the case’s probable-cause statement said.
Investigators also learned three of the guns were reported stolen on Dec. 12, 2021, the report said.
