The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has upgraded charges against a House Springs man to murder after a mother and daughter died from gunshot wounds to their heads, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Robert Winkelman, 73, has now been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action, according to the Sheriff’s Office reported. Winkelman was initially charged with two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.
On July 25, Winkelman allegedly shot Jessica Lashly, 38, and Jersey Greer, 17, at a home on Doetzel Drive in House Springs. Winkelman then shot himself in the head when approached by deputies, and he is in critical condition at an area hospital, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigators said Winkelman went to Lashly’s home at about 8:30 p.m. the night of the shooting and began questioning people there about their activities. Investigators were told that Winkelman had ongoing frustrations regarding activities at the neighboring home, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Lashly said something to Winkelman, and he pulled out a gun and shot her in the head. Greer attempted to help her mother, and Winkelman then shot her in the head, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Lashly and Greer were pronounced dead late Monday night, July 27, at an area hospital, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The death of the mother and daughter were the fourth and fifth homicides in Jefferson County this year. The county had five homicides last year, and there were seven homicides in Jefferson County in 2024.
The day before Lashley and Greer were shot, Sammy Gordon Jr., 24, was shot and killed at a home in the 7300 block of Lakeshore Drive in Cedar Hill. Gordon’s father also was shot.
Grodon's father, who is 51, was in critical condition today, July 26, Capt. Matt Moore said.
Christopher Serrano, 41, was arrested and charged two days after he allegedly shot the two men. He has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree armed criminal action and a second count of armed criminal action, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The previous homicide victims were Gabbriana Boyster, 16, who was found shot to death in a Hillsboro-area home on July 11, and Marijon Ludwig, 46, who was found stabbed and shot to death in a Fenton-area home on Feb. 14.
Three juveniles have been charged for their alleged connection to the shooting death of Boyster, who investigators believe was shot on July 10.
One of the juveniles has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse against one juvenile. Two other juveniles were charged with abandonment of a corpse.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that the three juveniles were believed to be at the home when Boyster was shot.
Billy Moman, 69, was suspected of killing Ludwig. It appeared Moman shot himself to death, and his body was found on Feb. 15 at the Holiday Inn Express, 1802 Gamel Cemetery Road, in Festus.
A GoFundMe account was created by the Northwest High School girls lacrosse team, who Greer played for. The account is called “Standing with Jersey and Jessica in Their Fight,” and as of this morning, July 29, $45,224 had been donated.
A GoFundMe account also was created for the family of Gordon. The account is called “Support for My Cousin's Family After Tragedy,” and as of this morning, $1,210 had been donated.

A House Springs man has been charged for allegedly shooting two women before shooting himself, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Officer reported today, July 26.
Robert Winkelman, 73, has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action, and a no-bond warrant has been issued for his arrest, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Winkelman and the women were in critical condition today at area hospitals, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
On Saturday, July 25, Winkelman allegedly shot a 38-year-old woman in the head after confronting her about activities at a home on Doetzel Drive in House Springs. He then allegedly shot the woman’s 17-year-old daughter in the head after the younger woman attempted to provide first aid to her mother, according to the report.
Deputies were called at about 8:30 p.m. and learned Winkelman was outside his home across the street from the shooting. When they approached him, Winkelman shot himself in the head, the report said.

Two women and the man suspected of shooting them were critically injured Saturday night, July 25, in House Springs, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies were called at about 8:30 p.m. to Doetzel Drive for a reported shooting. When they arrived, two women suffering from gunshot wounds were located, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies learned the alleged shooter was at a home across the street from where the women were found. When authorities approached the man outside the home, he shot himself, the report said.
The triple shooting occurred the day after two men were shot at a home on Lakeshore Drive in Cedar Hill.
On Friday night, July 24, a 24-year-old man was shot and killed, and a 51-year-old man was injured in a shooting. The man suspected of shooting the men had not been arrested as of today, Sheriff Dave Marshak said.
The Sheriff’s Office said the shootings in House Springs and Cedar Hill do not appear to be connected.
The Sheriff’s Office plans to hold a news conference today to address the two recent shootings.
The back-to-back shootings are the fourth incidents of gun violence in Jefferson County since near the end of June.
Two people, the 24-year-old man in Cedar Hill and a teenage girl at a home in the Hillsboro area, were killed in separate shootings, and one man and three juveniles have been charged in two of the shootings.
Chase Hoofman, 20, of Festus was charged two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and one count of unlawful use of a weapon for allegedly shooting at a group of people on June 23 at the Cedar Hill River Access.
Hoofman was shot by people in the group who he allegedly shot at on June 23. He was treated and released from the hospital following the shooting, and on July 7, he was arrested and booked at the Jefferson County in Hillsboro.
As of today, he was being held without bond, according to jail records.
Three juveniles were charged after Gabbriana Boyster, 16, was shot and killed on July 10 at her home in the 7900 block of Tower Road north of Hillsboro. The Sheriff’s Office reported her body was found the next day.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that the three juveniles were believed to be at the home when Boyster was shot. The juveniles were turned over to the Jefferson County Juvenile Office.
One of the juveniles was charged with involuntary manslaughter, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse. The two other juveniles were each charged with abandonment of a corpse.
Authorities have not released the ages or additional information about the juveniles.
Boyster was an incoming junior at Hillsboro High School.
