Carol Jean Gross, 78, of Herculaneum died March 2, 2014, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Gross was a member of Zion Methodist Church in Mapaville. Born July 5, 1935, in Herculaneum, she was the daughter of the late Grace E. (Reece) and Caroll Joe Thornborrow.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Gross; four children; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother: Billy Joe (Dorothy) Thornborrow of Hematite. She was preceded in death by a son: Kenny Joe Garth.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home in Pevely. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Linda Murry. Burial is in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pevely. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
