Angela Marie “Angie” Ball, 65, of Festus died Nov. 5, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Ball had a long career in the food industry, beginning with managing food service for Camp Wyman, then to managing various school kitchens, a job she loved. She had a passion for baking, candy making and canning, and contributed to the local Farmer’s Markets where she was well known for her sweet treats and homemade breads. A cancer survivor, she became a long-haul walker, and was a frequent sight along area roads. Over the years, she completed many organized walks and fundraisers, including 11 Susan G Komen 60-mile walks for breast cancer research, the world-famous Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., and the 100-mile Walk of the World in the Netherlands. She was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in Festus, and was dedicated to being a good wife and mother and giving back to the community. She was born Nov. 5, 1956, in Washington, Mo., the daughter of the late Mary F. (Chappuis) and David I. Hoven. She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles B. Ball.
She is survived by a daughter: Hannah M. (David) Hohe of Crystal City; two brothers: David (Janet) Hoven of Washington and Daniel (Lauran) Hoven of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters: Christine (Dan) Custer of Columbia, Rebecca (Sean Yates) Hoven of Portland, Ore., and Stephanie Hoven-Monroe of Clarksburg, W.Va.; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Kayla Roe of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Organization. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
