The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control is assisting with a death investigation at the request of the Ralls County Sheriff's Office, according to a news release from the MSHP.
The Ralls County Sheriff's Office responded to a possible shooting at a rural address outside Monroe City early Sunday morning. According to the release, deputies found a deceased adult male at the scene upon arrival, and a preliminary investigation concluded the victim died from a gunshot wound.
The MSHP's Division of Drug and Crime Control was called in to assist with the investigation, and Troop B investigators responded to the scene.
According to the news release, there is no known threat to the community, and investigators are following up on several leads.
