High Ridge man allegedly molested child for four years

Joseph J. Thompson, 55, of High Ridge allegedly molested a girl younger than 14 years old for four years, according to court documents.

Thompson has been charged with first-degree child molestation, a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years in prison, and first-degree statutory sodomy, an unclassified felony that carries a penalty of no less than five years and up to life in prison, court records show.

As of Tuesday, Oct. 7, he was being held on a $50,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents show.

A lawyer was not listed for Thompson.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Thompson molested the girl more than 100 times. He allegedly molested her several times a week from 2012 to 2016.
