Hanna Marie Cummings, 23, who lives in in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton, has been accused of drug trafficking and resisting arrest in St. Peters. She was on probation for possession of a controlled substance at the time of her arrest, according to court documents.
The St. Charles Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Cummings with second-degree drug trafficking, a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years in prison; resisting arrest, a class E felony that carries a penalty of up to four years in prison; and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a class D misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500, court records said.
Cummings was arrested on Oct. 5 in Jefferson County, and as of Monday, she was being held on a $25,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents show.
St. Peters Police were called on June 28 to a home for a reported trespassing. Cummings, who allegedly was at the home, had been charged for trespassing at the home in April, the case’s probable-cause statement said.
When officers arrived, Cummings was not at the house. However, she returned to the house to retrieve a purse. An officer found Cummings at the house, and she was arrested after a short struggle, the reports said.
An officer allegedly found 70 pill capsules in the purse, and the substances in the capsules tested positive as fentanyl. Cummings told the officer the capsules belonged to her boyfriend, who denied that the capsules were his, according to the report.
Cummings was taken to the St. Peters Justic Center, where an officer then found empty pill capsules at the bottom of her purse, the report said.
Cummings pleaded guilty to three counts of drug possession in April 2023 in St. Charles County. She had been sentenced to four years in prison, but the judge suspended the execution of the sentences and placed Cummings on five years’ probation, according to court records.
