De Soto-area man allegedly steals SUV in Crystal City

Kyle Allen Aubuchon, 34, who lives east of De Soto has been accused of stealing an SUV from a Crystal City home. He also allegedly damaged the vehicle when he hit a curb, according to court documents.

Aubuchon has been charged with felony stealing a motor vehicle. He was arrested on May 2, and as of Monday, May 4, he was being held on a $50,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court records show.

According to a probable-cause statement filed by the Crystal City Police, Aubuchon on Jan. 23 stole a 2024 Hyundai Tucson from a home in the 400 block of Old State Road South. He damaged the SUV’s front passenger’s side tire and wheel after striking a curb, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Aubuchon is considered a persistent felon after being found guilty of at least three prior felony charges and a misdemeanor charge, court records said.

In May 2011, he was found guilty of felony stealing, and in April 2014, he was found guilty of a separate felony stealing charge. Both incidents were in Jefferson County, court documents show.

Aubuchon also was found guilty of felony stealing in September 2023 in Jefferson County, and in August 2020, he was found guilty of misdemeanor stealing in Ste. Genevieve County, according to court records.
