A man charged in a May 2025 Columbia shooting case has entered a guilty plea, according to court documents.
Kieran Piersee was arrested after a shooting in the 900 block of Moss Street on May 2025, and was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action, according to court documents.
Piersee allegedly used an assault rifle to fire over a dozen shots at a man because he thought the man was walking in his backyard, according to past reporting.
The 32-year-old victim was shot twice, once in the leg and once in the foot; police said his injuries were not life threatening, according to past reporting.
The victim told investigators that he was cutting through the yard of an apartment when Piersee came outside and started arguing with him for cutting through the yard, according to court documents. The victim said he pointed out that he was just outside of Piersee's yard, according to past reporting.
The victim said Piersee then went inside and came back with an assault rifle, threatened to shoot him, then fired it at him 12-13 times, according to past reporting.
Piersee pleaded guilty to both counts, according to court documents.
A final sentencing hearing will be held at 1:30 p.m. on June 15 at the Boone County Courthouse, according to court records.
