An arrest warrant has been issued for a Jefferson City man accused of raping a 14-year-old, according to court records.

Augustus Adolph Armstead Jr. is charged in the Cole County Circuit Court with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy, court records show.

Court documents redacted Armstead's age, but court records show he was born in 1988, meaning he is at least 36.

A probable cause statement alleges that the 14-year-old's parent found Armstead having sex with the child in their room.

Armstead allegedly told investigators that the 14-year-old told him she was 18 and had a child; the 14-year-old first told investigators that she was 14 but later said she told him she was 17, according to the probable cause statement.

When detectives contacted Armstead, he reportedly denied having sex with the 14-year-old and said he was in Columbia on that day, according to the probable cause statement.

A no-bond warrant has been issued for Armstead, court records show.
