House Springs woman allegedly found with drugs following traffic stop

Kelly Anne Butz

Kelly Anne Butz, 39, of House Springs was allegedly found with methamphetamine in her purse following a traffic stop. A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped Butz for driving with an expired license plate and discovered the woman’s driver’s license had been revoked, according to court documents.

Butz has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison, and driving with a revoked license, a class D misdemeanor that carries a penalty of up to a $500 fine, court records show.

On Oct. 3, she was released on a $5,000 bond from the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro. She was arrested on Sept. 25, court documents said.

The deputy on Nov. 15, 2024, stopped a 2016 Ford Fusion because the car’s registration sticker had expired. The deputy learned Butz’s driver’s license was suspended and arrested her, the case’s probable-cause statement said.

The deputy then allegedly found two bags with crystal-like substances inside them when he searched her purse, the report said.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tested the substances in April and identified them as meth, according to the report.
