Scott James Bone Jr., 18, of Festus has been accused of shooting a 9 mm handgun at a home that had four people inside it at the time. The house was located in the 1000 block of Menkhus Avenue, according to court documents.
No injuries were reported from the shooting.
Bone has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal, which are both felonies. He was being held today, March 20, without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court records said.
According to the probable-cause statement filed by the Festus Police, Bone allegedly fired 10 to 11 shots at the home at about 4 a.m. Thursday, March 19. The report said about a minute before the shooting, he was seen walking east on Horine Road and cutting through yards toward the location where investigators found shell casings.
After the shooting, Bone was seen running north through nearby backyards. About two minutes after the shooting, a woman was seen running out of Bone’s home, which is near the home that was shot at, and was heard yelling “Scott” at least twice, according to the report.
Bone was wearing the same clothes that he appeared to be wearing in the surveillance video when he was arrested the morning of the shooting, the report said.
According to court documents, Bone was targeting the people in the home due to an ongoing feud he has been having with the home’s residents.
