A woman, a child and a dog escaped an Oct. 11 fire at a mobile home in the 12000 block of Pleasant Heights Drive southwest of Festus. The home was destroyed, so the family, which includes a man, must find other housing, Festus Fire Department spokesman Chuck Boyer reported.
Festus Fire got a call at 5:30 p.m. about the blaze on Pleasant Heights Drive, which is off Hwy. CC, Boyer said.
“There was a female with a 3-year-old child,” he said. “They got out with their dog safe. The fire was about 75 percent involved when we arrived. It was a total loss.”
Boyer said the cause of the fire “is undetermined, but not suspicious.”
“Red Cross was contacted to assist the family,” he said.
The Crystal City Fire Department and the Hematite and Jefferson R-7 fire protection districts helped with the call.
