Saline Valley firefighters responded to Domino’s Pizza, 1655 S. Old Hwy. 141, in the Fenton area on Sunday morning, Feb. 1, when water from a pipe burst sprayed electrical lines and wiring and caused sparks, authorities reported.

Fire Marshal Ryan Lesh said the district received a call from employees at 11:13 a.m.

“A water pipe had frozen and busted spraying all over electrical lines and computer server low voltage wiring causing the wiring to arc,” Lesh said in a written statement. “The employees called 911 and shut off the electrical panel. When crews arrived, they isolated the water tank to keep damage to a minimum.”

Lesh said it also could have led to a fire. No injuries were reported, he said.

He said the district contacted Ameren Missouri and Missouri American Water to shut off utilities.

No smoke, heat or fire damage occurred at the business, but repairs needed due to the water pipe burst will force the restaurant’s closure “for a few days,” Lesh reported.

Firefighters remained at the business until 12:35 p.m., he said. The Rock Community, High Ridge and Fenton fire protection districts and Rock Township Ambulance District assisted with the call, he said.
