Dakota Steven Hobbs, 30, of Imperial was recently arrested for a felony stealing charge. He allegedly stole tools from an Imperial home while on probation after admitting to threatening people at an Arnold-area bar in 2021, according to court documents.

Hobbs was arrested on June 20, and as of Tuesday, June 23, he was being held on a $15,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court and jail records show.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on Jan. 7 charged Hobbs with felony stealing after stolen tools were found at an Imperial home where he stored bags in the basement, court records said.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Hobbs on July 23, 2025, went to a home in the 3700 block of Red Bull Drive in Imperial. He had two dogs with him, and he was told to stay in the backyard.

However, Hobbs went into the home, where a man found him “sweating” while sitting on the floor. The man then drove Hobbs to a nearby gas station, where Hobbs asked to return to the home to get dog leashes from the backyard, the report said.

The man told Hobbs he could go back to get the leashes, but he could not drive Hobbs back to the house. When the man returned to the home later that day, he saw that several Dewalt tools and other items were stolen, according to the report.

A deputy on July 24, 2025, went to a home in the 5600 block of Hwy. 61, where a man said Hobbs “comes in and out” and had “multiple bags in his basement.” The deputy allegedly found a Craftsman tool bag with the stolen Dewalt tools, including one engraved with the victim’s name, the report said.

The stolen tools and items were worth $1,392.06, according to the report.

In September 2023, Hobbs pleaded guilty to a felony charge of first-degree terrorist threat. In October 2021, he threatened to shoot everyone in the 21 Rock Bar and Grill, 1 Meramec Heights Shopping Center, west of Arnold, court documents show.

After pleading guilty, the judge suspended the imposition of the sentence and placed Hobbs on six years’ probation, according to court records.
