Cedar Hill man allegedly shatters gas station’s door

James Sheerin II

James Royce Sheerin II, 25, of Cedar Hill has been accused of causing more the $2,100 worth of damage by breaking the door at the Circle K gas station, 8401 Industrial Drive, in Cedar Hill. He allegedly kicked the bottom portion of the glass door, causing it to shatter, according to court documents.

Sheerin was arrested on June 23, and as of June 26, he was being held on a $3,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court and jail records show.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on June 16 charged Sheerin with felony first-degree property damage, court records said.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Sheerin on Oct. 17, 2025, walked to the gas station and kicked the door, causing it to break. He then allegedly stole fountain soda.

The cost to repair the door was $2,165, the report said.

The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office previously charged Sheerin with two misdemeanors after an incident at a bar last year. On March 6, Sheerin was charged with resisting or interfering with an arrest, detention or stop and first-degree trespassing, according to court documents.

A probable-cause statement filed by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said a bartender on Nov. 3, 2025, at Sorelli's Italian Restaurant, 7044 Hwy. BB, in Cedar Hill, had stopped serving Sheerin, who began talking to himself in a mirror after consuming three drinks. Sheerin started asking other customers to buy him shots after the bartender stopped serving him, and the bartender repeatedly told Sheerin to leave.

Sheerin was eventually escorted out of the restaurant by customers, including a woman who he allegedly threatened to stab. When a deputy arrived, Sheerin ran away, the report said.

The deputy chased Sheerin across Veterans Drive, Hwy. 30 and Mall Drive. However, Sheerin ran into a wooded area near Mall Drive, and the deputy lost sight of him, according to the report.
