The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of cars from a home and a church parking lot between Hillsboro and Pevely. Along with the stolen cars, the Sheriff’s Office received reports of men traveling in a bright blue Chevrolet passenger car entering vehicles in various subdivisions off Hwy. A, Hwy. Z and Jarvis Road, authorities reported.

At about 11:30 a.m. June 2, deputies were called to the 9800 block of Goldman Road because a 2015 Dodge Charger was stolen from a home’s garage. At about the same time, the Sheriff’s Office received reports of men entering garages and going through vehicles on Round Table Court off Hwy. Z, the report said.

There also were reports of the men going through vehicles in the Lockport Landing subdivision off Hwy. A and the Peaceful Meadows subdivision off Jarvis Road. However, no thefts were reported in those subdivisions, according to the report.

A 2016 Infiniti Q70 was stolen from the parking lot at the Grace Life Church, 1 Victory Drive, in Pevely. The victim said she left her purse and keys in the car while she attended church services, the report said.

Surveillance video showed the same men who allegedly were seen going through vehicles and taking the Charger at the church, according to the report.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that between 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Pevely Police chased the stolen Charger on I-55 from Hwy. Z, but the officers quickly terminated the pursuit. However, the Missouri State Highway Patrol continued to chase the Charger north on I-55 before it exited at Bates Road in St. Louis and the pursuit ended.

On June 3, the Infiniti was recovered by St. Louis Police, but as of June 10, the Charger had not been recovered, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the car thefts or the suspects to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
