man in handcuffs

A House Springs man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated on drugs following a five-vehicle accident on Friday afternoon, Feb. 24, on Hwy. 30 west of Valley Dell Road in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton. The House Springs man, a Farmington woman and a Fenton man were injured in the accident, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 3:14 p.m., the 38-year-old House Springs man, who’s a prior offender, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo east on the highway and reportedly failed to keep a proper lookout and struck the rear of an eastbound 2006 Chevrolet Impala that was stopped behind other traffic at a red light. The impact of that collision caused the Impala to strike the rear of an eastbound 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, which in turn struck the rear of an eastbound 2014 Honda Odyssey, which struck the rear of an eastbound 2010 GMC Yukon, the report said.

After the collision, the Aveo caught fire, according to the report.

Daniel J. Lohman, 48, of Fenton was driving the Impala; Danielle N. Siller, 31, of Defiance was driving the Cruze; Daniel L. McAdams, 61, of High Ridge was driving the Odyssey; and Sonia B. Turner, 49, of High Ridge was driving the Yukon, the report said.

No injuries were reported for Siller, McAdams or Turner.

However, the House Springs man and a passenger in the Aveo – Sheila M. Tripp, 32, of Farmington – were moderately injured and taken by North Jefferson County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County.

Lohman had minor injuries and was taken by private conveyance to Mercy Hospital South, the report said.

The House Springs man and his passenger and McAdams were not wearing seat belts, and the other drivers were wearing them, the patrol reported.

The Aveo and Impala were totaled, the Cruze was extensively damaged, the Odyssey was moderately damaged and the Yukon had minor damage, the report said.

The highway patrol arrested the House Springs man at 4:27 p.m. for felony driving while intoxicated on drugs that caused injury to two people as a prior offender and then released him pending application for warrants.

His name will not be published unless charges are filed against him in the case, and as of this afternoon, Feb. 25, none had been filed.
