A fire destroyed a camper in the 7700 block of Engle Ford Road near Browns Ford Road in the Dittmer area on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 5. No injuries were reported, according to the De Soto Rural Fire Protection District.
Deputy Chief John Scullin said firefighters got a call at 4:49 p.m. about the fire, and Hillsboro firefighters, who were nearby, arrived first and got the fire under control within five minutes.
He said the camper was about 50 feet from a shed, which was not damaged by the fire.
The Cedar Hill Fire Protection District and Valle Ambulance District also responded to the scene. The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted to determine the cause of the fire, Scullin said.
