A fire heavily damaged a house in the 500 block of West Mineral Street in De Soto on Feb. 14. No injuries were reported, De Soto Fire Chief Tony Ochoa said.
He said firefighters were dispatched at about 5:05 p.m., and the first firetruck arrived at 5:10 p.m. to find heavy smoke coming from the one-story house.
“We think it started in the basement,” Ochoa said, adding that the fire spread to the top floor of the house.
He said the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating to determine the cause of the fire. As of today, Feb. 18, the cause was unknown.
The De Soto Rural, Hematite, Hillsboro, Jefferson R-7 and St. Clair fire protection districts and the Festus Fire Department responded to the scene of the fire.
