Only one apartment unit was damaged by the fire.

An apartment fire was brought under control quickly and caused only minor damage to a unit in the 400 block of Meramec Valley in Arnold, Rock Community Fire Protection District reported.

Rock Fire was called to the complex at about 5:45 p.m. Friday (May 31), and the fire was under control in about 10 minutes, Assistant Chief Kevin Wingbermuehle said.

The fire was ruled accidental, but the cause of the blaze was not known as of today (June 3), Wingbermuehle said.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and it was not known how many people live in the unit. However, it was believed the apartment could still be inhabited after the fire, the report said.

The fire was contained to a small area inside the apartment and an exterior windowsill was damaged. No other apartments in the complex were damaged by the fire, the report said.

Rock Fire firefighters remained on the scene until about 7:30 p.m., the report said.
