A 42-year-old Festus man told police he returned to his mobile home in the 100 block of Scenic Drive after several weeks away and discovered someone had stripped the linoleum off his floor and stolen it, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
The victim reported the incident on Oct. 27.
“He noticed the front door kicked in and the linoleum on the floor was gone,” Lewis said. “He had been out of town for three weeks. (The thief) pulled it up. It’s the weirdest thing.”
Lewis said nothing else was reported stolen.
The linoleum was valued at $700, Lewis said.
As of Nov. 3, the flooring had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, he said. Anyone with information is asked to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
