Eureka Police tracked a stolen iPhone, taken from a blind man at Six Flags, to the yard of a Cedar Hill home and have identified a person of interest in the case.

A 34-year-old Villa Ridge man told police his iPhone, valued at $300, was taken from his pocket sometime 1-3 p.m. Oct. 27 while he was at Six Flags. The man sent a text message to his phone that said, “You stole the phone from a blind man,” police reported.

An app on the phone was used to track the phone to a home off Graham Road in Cedar Hill, and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the missing phone in bushes outside the residence, the report said.

A man who answered the door of the home allegedly told the deputies that a friend had given him the phone, but he did not say why it was in the bushes, the report said.

On Nov. 9, Eureka Police were making arrangements to speak with the man’s friend about the incident, Capt. David Wilson said.

The phone was returned to the Villa Ridge man, Wilson said.
