A 39-year-old Eureka woman was arrested for alleged possession of an illegal substance. An officer stopped the woman due to expired license plates on the Jeep she was driving, Eureka Police reported.
The officer at about 6:20 p.m. May 4 saw a 1997 Jeep Wrangler traveling north on Hwy. 109. Due to the Jeep’s license plate being expired, the officer started following the woman, the report said.
The woman allegedly started driving erratically, and the officer stopped the Jeep on East Fifth Street near Hwy. 109. The woman allegedly said she was driving erratically because she was trying to get to work. It was discovered that she was on probation for possession of a controlled substance, according to the report.
When the officer asked her to get out of the Jeep, she pulled a leather bag out of her pants’ pocket. The woman allegedly told the officer she was pulling out a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine and meth, the report said.
The woman gave the bag to the police officer. When the officer searched the Jeep, he allegedly found a purse with a crystal-like substance in a bag and another crystal-like substance in a latex glove, according to the report.
The woman was taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released pending the application for a warrant, Lt. Michael Tapp said.
