A Eureka man who was shot by a police officer following a standoff at a home in Shrewsbury has been charged with six felonies. The man was shot when he allegedly lunged at a man he was keeping in the home with a gun and knife, according to court documents.
Connor Will, 30, has been charged with first-degree burglary, two counts of armed criminal action, first-degree kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest. He was transported to a hospital after being shot, and when he is released from the hospital, he will be held on a $500,000 bond at the St. Louis County Jail, the St. Louis County Police reported.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, at about 2 a.m. March 29, Will broke into a home in the 7500 block of Murdoch Avenue. A woman in the home was able to escape, but Will allegedly held a man in the home at gunpoint and knifepoint.
When Shrewsbury Police officers arrived, Will was pointing a gun at the man who had been ordered to stay in a corner in a bedroom. St. Louis County Police Tactical Operations Unit and Crisis Negotiations Team arrived at about 2:30 a.m. and attempted to negotiate with Will, the report said.
Police reported Will became agitated and uncooperative during the intervention. At about 5:30 a.m., Will allegedly lunged at the other man, and a police officer shot Will one time, according to the report.
The officer who shot Will is 44 years old and has 18 years of law enforcement experience, according to the St. Louis County Police.
The man who was being held in the home told police that Will had ordered him to contact his daughter so Will could speak to her, the report said.
Court records show Will has two pending cases for assault in St. Louis County.
He was charged in December 2024 for second-degree assault of a special victim after he allegedly choked and punched a man older than 60 at Mercy Behavioral Health in Creve Coeur. Will allegedly told officers he was trying to kill the man because the man was working with police to plant drugs on him, the case’s probable-cause statement said.
Will also was charged with second-degree domestic assault in June 2025 in St. Louis County for allegedly hitting a woman he was living with, court records show.
