Thieves stole $500 in cash from an unlocked SUV late Sunday or early Monday (Aug. 7-8) at a home in the 200 block of St. Benedict in the Tiara at the Abbey subdivision in Pevely.
Police Chief Ron Weeks said the couple who lived at the home, 24 and 21, left their wallets in the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Nothing else was taken and there was no damage to the vehicle.
“We tell them and tell them,” Weeks said. “Lock your vehicles, and don’t leave valuables in them.”
