The return of the Pevely-Herculaneum Christmas Parade has caught the public’s attention, organizers say.

The 2021 version of the event – not held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic – is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2.

“It’s a great community event,” Herculaneum Mayor Bill Haggard said. “I think we’ve had a good response from parade participants this year. We’ll get 50, 60, 70 participants, usually. That’s floats and vehicles and the Herculaneum High School marching band. Every year, it’s just kind of different.”

Linda Miles, Pevely’s deputy city clerk, said the residents of her city also are looking forward to the return of the parade.

“We’ve had a lot of calls, and we’ve had a lot of interest,” Miles said.

The deadline to register to participate in the parade is Monday, Nov. 29.

The parade lineup starts at 5 p.m. at Herculaneum City Park, 776 Joachim Ave.

From its start there, the parade proceeds west along Joachim Avenue to north on Commercial Boulevard (Hwy. 61-67) into Pevely, then it turns west on Lions Road to north on Old State Road to west on Main Street before disbanding at Pevely City Park, 48 Main St.

“Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on a float,” Miles said. “The theme of the parade is ‘It’s Christmas.’”
