The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man suspected of shooting two men, killing one, on Friday night, July 24, at a home in Cedar Hill, Sheriff Dave Marshak said today, July 25.
The Sheriff’s Office was called at about 6 p.m. to a home in the 7300 block of Lakeshore Drive in Cedar Hill, where the men had been shot.
Deputies found a 24-year-old man who lived at the home dead. A 51-year-old man who is related to the younger man but does not live at the home was injured from an apparent gunshot wound, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The older man was transported to an area hospital. Marshak said the man was in serious but stable condition today.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that the shooting appeared to be targeted, and the suspected shooter is not a threat to the general public. The Sheriff’s Office also said it does not appear that anyone else is being targeted.
The Sheriff’s Office has not released more information about the suspected shooter, and the department has not identified the man who was shot and killed. The department also did not provide more information about the man who was injured.
Marshak said the Sheriff’s Office was continuing to investigate the shooting, and it would release more information when it is available.
