Matthew Joseph Dale Reynolds, 19, allegedly led a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper on a high-speed chase on I-55 from Arnold into Barnhart. The trooper located Reynolds at his home in Pevely, and Reynolds allegedly admitted to fleeing from the trooper because he was driving without insurance and speeding, according to court documents.
Reynolds has been charged with a felony count of aggravated fleeing a stop or detention and misdemeanor counts of exceeding the speed limit, careless and imprudent driving, failure to signal, failing to stop at a red light and driving without insurance, court records said.
Reynolds was arrested on July 7, and as of Monday, July 13, he was being held on a $10,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court and jail records show.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, the trooper saw Reynolds driving a 1998 Acura TL at about 12:30 a.m. Sept. 28, 2025, on southbound I-55 near Hwy. 141 in Arnold. The Acura was missing its rear bumper, and Reynolds was allegedly traveling at 112 mph in a 65-mph zone.
Reynolds allegedly was going 125 mph in a 70-mph zone as he and the trooper approached the Imperial Main Street exit. Reynolds turned off his car’s lights and got off the interstate at Imperial Main Street, the report said.
Reynolds then turned west onto Imperial Main Street before quickly turning around to go east on the road and got back on southbound I-55. He allegedly went off the side of the road while re-entering the interstate, but he was able to get back on the road and sped away at about 117 mph, according to the report.
Reynolds then got off I-55 at the Hwy. M exit in Barnhart. He allegedly drove through a red light at the bottom of the exit ramp, got onto Metropolitan Boulevard, went the wrong way on the traffic circle before speeding away from the trooper on southbound Metropolitan Boulevard, the report said.
