A person was found dead outside a burning home this morning, Nov. 4, in the 1700 block of Woodwind Drive in Imperial, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.
“We are not confirming anything about the manner or cause of death right now; that is still under investigation,” Bissell said.
Bissell said he would not confirm reports that the person appeared to have been shot or where the body was found. Reports indicate firefighters found the person on the home’s back porch.
The name and age of the person found at the home have not been reported.
The Sheriff’s Office detective bureau and crime scene analysts along with the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the case.
Bissell said he had not been told if the cause of the fire had been identified. Authorities have not reported whether the death and fire are connected.
