A teen who drove her vehicle into a Fenton-area house on July 19 received minor injuries, but the owner of the home must find other temporary lodging, Saline Valley Fire officials reported.
Saline Valley Fire Marshal Ryan Lesh said the department responded to a vehicle accident at about 2:10 p.m. in the 700 block of Saline Road.
He said the driver was a teenage girl who received minor to moderate injuries. Rock Township Ambulance transported her to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
“Upon arrival, fire crews located a passenger vehicle that had left the roadway and was partially in the building, creating significant structural damage to the residence,” Lesh said today, July 20. “It went through the foundation. It was halfway into the basement.”
He said the Honda was totaled, but the driver was able to exit the car on her own.
The lone occupant of the house, a man in his 50s, was evaluated and not transported to a hospital, but must find other housing until the house is repaired, Lesh said. He said utilities to the house were disconnected.
“He is pursuing other lodging through his insurance,” he said. “The house will require repairs before he can move back.”
Lesh said the resident was allowed to gather essential personal items from the house.
Crews remained at the scene until approximately 4:45 p.m., he said.
High Ridge Fire Protection District, Rock Township Ambulance District and the Spire and Ameren Missouri utilities companies assisted with the call.
