Festus residents may notice a strange odor while crews work to install a fabric lining in sewer lines around the city. Currently work is underway along Russell Avenue, Vine Street, Horine Road and Westvale Drive, Public Works director Matt Clemens said today (May 16).
“There is nothing harmful in this routine process and we apologize for any temporary inconvenience,” City Administrator Greg Camp said.
The sewer lining is part of regular maintenance to the city’s sewer lines, and the latest round of sewer lining began a couple of weeks ago, Clemens said.
He said the sewer line work is done on a rotating basis.
“It’s a fabric liner pulled from manhole to manhole,” he said. “We do this every other year.”
