Time is drawing to a close to enter the annual “Show Off Your Grandkids” photo contest sponsored by Grand Times, Leader Publications’ magazine for seniors.
The deadline for the contest, which is open to Jefferson County and Eureka grandparents age 50 and older, is 5 p.m. Friday, March 3. First prize is $100; second prize is $75; and third prize will be $50.
The contest is held in conjunction with the Festus Senior expo, set for 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 22, at the Sacred Heart Parish Annex Building in Crystal City. Information about the expo, along with the winning photos, will be published in the March 16 issue of the Grand Times.
Photo entries must have been taken by the grandparent who submits the entry. Studio shots are not eligible. The photos will be judged on creativity, composition, charm and technical aspects such as crop, focus and lighting.
Entries must include the following information:
■ Photographer’s name, address and phone number.
■ The first and last names of children in the photo and how they are related to you.
■ When and where the photo was taken.
■ A brief explanation of why the photograph is special to you.
You may email entries to news@leaderpublications.biz. Photos also may be dropped off at the Leader office at 503 N. Second St. in Festus.
Grandparents are limited to one entry per grandchild. A group photo counts as the entry for each of the grandchildren in the photo. Readers who participated in the past are welcome to do so again, but please send different photographs.
Photos will be returned by mail if a self-addressed stamped envelope is included. Photos not published in the newspaper may be posted to the Leader website at myleaderpaper.com.

There will be more reader submission contests associated with the Leader’s Senior Expos this year. Readers will have the opportunity to send in photos and memories for the following contests as well:
■ “Way to Go,” featuring travel photos, to run in the April 13 Grand Times published in conjunction with the De Soto Senior Expo on April 19.
■ “Picture Your Pet” photos will run in the July 20 issue of Grand Times, in conjunction with the July 26 West Side Senior Expo.
■ “Way Back When,” featuring vintage photos, will run in the Aug. 17 issue of the Grand Times in conjunction with the Arnold Senior expo, slated for Aug. 23.
■ “My Best Ride,” focusing on favorite vehicles, will run in the Oct. 12 Grand Times, in conjunction with the Oct. 18 Eureka Senior Expo.
All winners in those contests will receive a cash prize. Look for announcements in the paper about contest deadlines as they grow closer.
