Charter Communications phone and internet fiber lines recently were damaged by vandals, leaving customers in the Festus area without Spectrum service over the weekend, March 11-12, and through Monday afternoon, March 13.
A Charter Communications spokesman, Jay Saunders, issued the following statement concerning the situation:
“There was a service outage due to vandalism of our fiber lines. I am told by our Field Operations team it happened over the weekend in Jefferson County. Our engineers worked to fix the problem and restore service as quickly and safely as possible to the more than 5,000 customers impacted by the outage. We appreciate the patience of the impacted customers while we made the necessary repairs.”
Charter Communications did not respond to Leader questions regarding what specifically caused the outage, exactly how long the service was out, the specific area impacted and what law enforcement agency is investigating the vandalism.
