Two men and one woman, all from Jefferson County, were hurt Thursday afternoon (June 15) in a four-vehicle accident on Hwy. Z east of Front Street in Pevely, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
In addition, the woman, who’s 33 and lives in Pevely, was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated on drugs and second-degree assault in connection with the accident, the patrol reported.
At 3:57 p.m., the Pevely woman was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Passat east on Hwy. Z, where the car crossed the center of the road, and the front left side of it struck the left side of a westbound pickup, a 2006 Chevrolet 1500, the report said.
After that collision, the pickup spun counter clockwise and ran off the right side of the road, where it struck a sign before returning to the road, according to the report.
In the meantime, the Passat continued east in the westbound lane, and another motorist driving a westbound 2007 Mazda 3 ran off the right side of the road while attempting to avoid a collision with the Passat, but the front left side of the Passat struck the left side of the Mazda 3, the report said.
The Passat still continued east in the westbound lane, and yet another driver, in a westbound 2003 Chevrolet Equinox, ran off the right side of the road trying to avoid a crash, but couldn’t, and the Passat struck the left side of the Equinox, according to the report.
Jason R. Hill, 29, of Festus was driving the pickup; Haylee C. Eastridge, 21, of Hillsboro was driving the Mazda 3; and Michael K. Greishaber, 59, of Festus was driving the Equinox.
No injuries were reported for Hill or Eastridge. However, Greishaber sustained minor injuries and was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. No information about his condition was available today (June 16).
The Pevely woman was moderately injured, as was a passenger in her vehicle – Kenneth A. Rike, 33, of De Soto.
The woman was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where she was listed in satisfactory condition this afternoon, a hospital spokesman said.
Rike was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where he was listed in satisfactory condition this afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The highway patrol arrested the woman at St. Anthony’s, and then she was released pending application for warrants, the report said.
Everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The Passat was totaled, the pickup and Equinox were moderately damaged, and the Mazda 3 sustained minor damage, the report said.
