Two people from Pacific were hurt Saturday (Sept. 6) after an off-road vehicle went down a 40-foot rock bluff in the Pacific area in the northwest corner of Jefferson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Randy LeClaire, 56, was riding a Polaris RZR In-Mold off-road vehicle in an area near Hwy. F and Hwy. O near the Franklin County line at 9:08 p.m. when he drove off a rock bluff and the vehicle fell 40 feet. LeClaire was thrown off the Polaris.

LeClaire sustained serious injuries and was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, the report said. An update on his condition was not available.

A rider on the Polaris, Camilla Winkelman, 43, had minor injuries and was treated at the scene and released, the report said.

Neither was wearing a safety helmet, the report said. The Polaris had moderate damage.
