A De Soto man was injured after he reportedly fell asleep while driving south on I-55. An SUV he was driving hit the back of a tractor-trailer south of Imperial Main Street, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
At 7:02 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, Larry E. Clark, 26, was driving a 2005 GMC Yukon on the interstate when he fell asleep. The SUV then hit the back of a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Donald A. Means, 65, of Belleville, Ill., the report said.
Clark was moderately injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in good condition as of Thursday afternoon, Nov. 10, a hospital spokesman said.
No injuries were reported for Means, who was wearing a seat belt. Clark was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
The Yukon was extensively damaged, and the tractor-trailer was moderately damaged, the Highway Patrol reported.
